Light lines in the vaults of Schloss Seefeld.

While Christo and Jeanne-Claude made existing architecture disappear for a time by wrapping it, and so made it newly perceptible, Békési takes an almost opposite approach: he brings architecture forward through deliberate contouring. Light, line and technical interventions become the means to make existing structures visible, to read them anew and to tie them to an identity of their own. In the Artpol Seefeld project, the connection of space and name produced an installation whose lines of light run across the floors like field lines, contour the architecture and create spatial poles. Between these poles the art of the gallery appears as an aurora borealis: a luminous, shifting projection on the walls.
